Breast Augmentation

Goal

To correct mammary hypotrophy by increasing breast volume according to the patient’s wishes.

Surgery

It lasts 2 hours and requires 2 nights of hospitalization. The surgery is done under general anesthesia. You will be Breast Augmentation driven to the clinic the night before, you will meet with your care team : surgeon, anesthesiologist and medical staff.

Prior to the surgery, you should have done an ultrasound or a mammogram to rule out any breast tumor. You will choose with your surgeon the best breast implant according to the volume and shape. There are two types of implants: round and anatomical implants. The last ones give a more natural look.

Breast implants can be placed through three different incisions: areola, breast crease or armpit. They can be positioned in front or behind the pectoral muscle depending on the skin thickness and the volume of breast parenchyma.

Post operative period

The pain is more severe when the pectoral muscle is involved. It is easily relieved by analgesics. A support bra is placed along with the first dressing in the operating room. The bra should be worn night and day for a period of 4 weeks. Heavy weights and arm abduction are forbidden for 4 to 6 weeks.

Patient should avoid any pressure on the breast for a period of a month. Soft massage is advised to soften the breast and to give a more natural texture at touch.

The result of the surgery is obvious right away but it keeps improving and the look becomes natural and perfect by 3 to 6 months.

Duration of stay

The duration of stay for a breast augmentation in Tunisia is usually 5 nights/6 days.

This time will allow your physician to provide you with an optimal follow up. He will also see you at his office the day preceding your return back home.

The recovery period spent in Tunisia is usually quite beneficial and allows most of our patients to resume their professional activities as soon as they arrive home.
