Rhinoplasty in Tunisia

Goal

Rhinoplasty is a surgical intervention which tends to improve the aesthetic appearance of the nose by changing the shape of the nose, remodeling the tip or modifying the nostrils according to well thought of and realistic goals. Your surgeon might offer a simultaneous chin surgery called Genioplasty.

Surgery

Rhinoplasty surgery involves making small incisions inside the nose, from which it is possible to reshape the bone and cartilage component of the nasal skeleton.

The surgery lasts 1 hour for the standard intervention and takes 2 hours for the open rhinoplasty. It is not recommended for children under the age of 16 to undergo this kind of surgeries as they haven’t completed the process of development yet.

2 nights of hospitalization are required. The night before the surgery, we will drive you to the clinic where you will meet the care team: surgeon, anesthesiologist and hospital staff. You will receive a relaxing premedication.

Rhinoplasty is done under general anesthesia and the choice between traditional closed rhinoplasty and open rhinoplasty depends both on the surgeon’s preference and the type of correction to be performed.

Different surgical scenarios are possible: nose too long, nose too wide, nose too deep, nose too short or nasal malformation. .

Post operative period

The pain is usually very mild and limited for the presence of nasal swabs. In all cases, pain therapy is provided with appropriate dosages to maintain a comfortable recovery.

A dressing with ice cold gauzes is left in place on both nostrils for a few hours in order to limit swelling, hematomas and edemas. In most cases, a small plaster is to be placed at the back of the nose to prevent the bone from moving.

Rhinoplasty does not cause visible scars as the incisions are made inside the nose in most cases.

The result of the surgery can be seen right away but the final appearance will take place within 4 to 6 months. The patient ought to wake up few hours after the surgery, wash his hair and drive the car a week after but getting exposed to the sun is only recommended after months of the intervention as it may cause a sudden increase in edema.

Possible complications

If all prescribed precautions are respected, all risks of complications can be limited. Though possible risks are rare in the case of rhinoplasty, we shall mention hematomas, infections and reactions to anesthesia

Duration of stay

The duration of stay for a rhinoplasty in Tunisia is usually 6 nights/7 days.

This time will allow your physician to provide you with an optimal follow up.

He will also see you at his office the day preceding your return home.
