Goal

Surgery

Its duration is 3 to 5 hours and requires an overnight admission.

Hair Graft surgery, done under local anesthesia, requires 3 steps :

1. Harvesting hair in the donor area (occipital) : the removal of a thin patch of the scalp from the occipital region.
2. Grouping hair in mini grafts (4 to 7 hairs) or micro grafts (1 to 3 hairs) depending on the requirements.

4. Control

FUE technique

The Follicular Unit Extraction is an innovative technique for hair transplant in which hair follicles are removed individually from the donor area to subsequently be re-implanted in the area that requires thickening.

What differentiates this method with the traditional technique is that it has more advantages including the minimization of post-transplant scarring and faster recovery in the donor area.

Postoperative phase

The pain is very mild as most patients can go home after the surgery without bandages and dressings (in case of FUT: Follicular Unit Transplantation) or a 24-hour bandage in the donor area (in case of FUE: Follicular Unit Extraction).

Through the process of recovery, simple precautions, which will be prescribed when checking out, should be taken into consideration. Eventually, patients maintain a direct contact with the surgeon during the postoperative phase in case of any discomfort.

Frontal edema lasts 2 to 3 days.

Small crusts are visible for 10 days and are progressively eliminated by repetitive soft shampoos.

The grafted hair will fall as expected after one month and will be replaced by new hair growing over 3 to 6 mouths. In some cases, several surgeries might be necessary.

Duration of the stay

The duration of the stay for a hair implant in Tunisia is usually 3 nights/4 days. This time will allow your physician to provide you with an optimal follow up.
