Breast Reduction

Goal

To reduce breast volume in accordance with patient’s wishes and to remodel the breast. By working on the skin and the glandular tissue, the breast and the areola will be lifted.

Surgery

It takes 2 to 3 hours under general anesthesia and 3 nights of hospitalization. The extra glandular tissue and fat are Breast Reduction excised, they are sent to histopatholgy to rule out any tumor.

What is left is remodeled and lifted. The areola is repositioned at the normal height. The excess skin is excised leaving a vertical or an inverted T scar.

At the end of the surgery, drains are put in place for 2 to 3 days and an elastic dressing in the shape of a bra is applied.

Post operative period

The pain is usually relieved by mild analgesics during the first week. Bruising will disappear within one to 2 weeks. The dressing is removed 24 hours post surgery and is replaced by a support bra that should be worn night and day for one month.

The result of the surgical correction is visible immediately and it improves gradually over 3 to 4 months.

Duration of stay

The duration of stay for a breast reduction in Tunisia is usually 6 nights/7 days.

This time will allow your physician to provide you with an optimal follow up.

He will also see you at his office the day preceding your return back home.

The recovery period spent in Tunisia is usually quite beneficial and allows most of our patients to resume their professional activities as soon as they arrive home.
